after the first question

was fuck fuck fuck
it did break the ice

the films were good
some were bad
i did notice that i had three or four typos
people that i left them on purpose
uh
yeah okay

the after party was good
i di not win an award
other than the satisfaction
of being able to attend
the wine they served there
sucked dick hole
way too sweet
my mom would have loved it
they did have lazy magnolia beer
that is really really good
in fact i am drinking one now

alcohol is really cheap in oxford
good news for me
and the students of ole miss
but
there sure is a lot of confederate flags
and white people

i walked on the red carpet
that was cool
it was for the line to the bathroom

we arrived in oxford around 6:45
we were at the bar at 7:45
the food was not great

were as fresh and delicious
as i have ever had
we did not do anything after that
came back to the room

there is no jacuzzi
oh well
there is always forever

going to look for a breakfast place
that is not a denny's

in oxford
and check it out
excited about several films
for the rest of the day
sweetness

tonight is the awards ceremony
i brought my wing-off trophy to carry around
it really is the only trophy that matters

sorry i missed all the great openings last night

Forlorn Friday Night take II

Memphis College of Art Presents Forlorn

Memphis, TN–Memphis College of Art presents Forlorn, new works by MCA papermaking and book arts professor Cynthia Thompson, through February 7, 2010 at on the street, MCA's downtown gallery located at 338 S. Main. A closing reception, rescheduled from an earlier date, is Friday, February 5 from 6-8 pm. Gallery hours are Thursday and Friday, 4-9 pm and Saturday from noon to 5 pm. The exhibtion and reception are free and open to the public.

Forlorn continues Professor Thompson's exploration of the body through personal investigation and various techniques of art making. Thompson addresses her body-centered interests through the processes of papermaking, book binding and letterpress printing; which individually and collectively reveal veiled meaning and metaphor.

i need to plan a camping trip to mississippi
i like to play horseshoes while camping
and eating ribs
drinking beer

It is True

i am an artist
and i live in memphis
so
you could say
i am an artist in memphis
i have invested much
into this cities visual art scene
more than most
not as much as some
let me be the first to say

at least to say it on this blog

do not turn the pyramid
into an art museum
bad form all around
you might as well put it
in the lobby of paragon bank
or at doggie day care
or perhaps
even better
at america's nails
i would prefer it at the fairgrounds
at the medicine factory
in the building MCA just purchased
for their new grad center
it would be better next to the dog track
in west memphis
then at the pyramid

Forgive Your Enemies

Elisha Gold’s metal sculptures are all around Memphis, the latest -- the huge socially-conscious flowers in My Big Backyard at the Botanic Gardens.

“I use the human face so the viewer can have a more personal experience with the sculpture…In my work I express the relationship of soul and machine working as one…the complexity and compatibility of objects working simultaneously to achieve a sense of frozen motion or an over all loud silence.”

Come see what happens when Eli puts down his torch and picks up his brush.

Eli's Coming! "Forgive Your Enemies" opening reception: Friday, February 5th, from 5 til 8. For more information, call 276-1251 or go online to www.galleryfiftysix.com.
