Art Links and Our Anniversary

This week was our 7th anniversary. We didn't get each other anything. She was out of town and I had to work, work in the studio, work on an article and work at the store. I guess not getting gifts for this occasion is a sign of being together too long? We did drink some fancy wines and go to lunch the next day.

This is what we ate.

It seems Banksy has taken over NYC.

Here is an interactive map of all the NY Banksy pieces.

Here is an image of his accent.

Banksy himself couldn't sell his work.

Jerry Saltz does not give a fuck.

These two guys have the right idea about Banksy.

Also, what Jerry Saltz thinks about Jeff Koons Lady Gaga album cover.

Speaking of albums. Pearl Jam's Lightening Bolt came out this week. You can get it on vinyl or CD.

The Sirens video below. Don't Hate.

A Youtube channel devoted to Performance Art by the Tate.

Stanley Kubrick's first films. Not bad.

This is Colossal.  A wooden tornado.

This is why technology was invented. Things like this are important.  A map to the closest Pizza place to your location. Now, I need one for chicken wings.

Anne Truitt from the 70's. So great.

This is pretty much how it is.

Well, that is pretty much it for the links this go around. Be sure to check out the open studios all over Baltimore this weekend. Scroll down to previous posts to check out the info.

Oh. This meme makes me laugh.

Yes Please

I want to do this in my house. But, instead of a beautiful European city, how about an image of me!

Something like this perhaps?

Open Studios This Weekend

Below, I posted about School 33's open studios and sponsorship. Well, you should all check it out. So many studio from so many artists all over town. It is crazy to think people were actually able to organize such an event. Especially all over town and not just a particular neighborhood.

Here is a link to the PDF...plan your visit accordingly and be on the look out for me and the Georgia.

Here is just a little map of all the places around town. Holy Shit.

So, check this out. School 33's Open Studios Night has a sponsor. Not too bad. They should be able to pay for the good beer and wine now. Sponsorship or not, they charge a $40 fee to submit for an exhibition, it is only $30 bucks if you are a member.

School 33 is at 1427 Light Street

School 33 Art Center’s Open Studio Tour is an annual city-wide event that for over 25 years has brought together professional artists and the general public, giving collectors and art lovers the opportunity to visit the studios of visual artists.

Emerge Art Fair in DC

The Emerge Art Fair was held at the Capital Skyline Hotel in DC this weekend. It was interesting to see how the different galleries treated each of the rooms. There were some galleries showing work in the parking garage under the hotel. I am down with that. Stupid that Memphis never did anything like this. I guess because I did not do it.

Oh, okay. I'll take one of these tote bags.

Not art, and not OSHA compliant.

Hey, remember when I made work that looked just like this.

Performance art. Reading. People still read books?

Caitlain Cunningham from sophiajacob

People sitting in a Taxi in a parking garage watching a video.

Oh, okay. Maybe pretty great. A Donald Juddesque base and beer bottles. Yes.

Stripper pole is her income.
On a side note, she is not a stripper and this is not a stripper pole.

Well, if you pay a lot of money for your MFA might as well make the most of it.
Paul Shortt has done just this.
He walked around carrying this large sign throughout the fair.

This is not so much a baptism as it is a boring hippy drum circle.

Art Links and Art Fairs

Well, here we are. More links from me to you to check out. This week is a little all over the place. I mean, all over the place.

I started writing for is a link to that awesome article.  Just a matter of time before I take over! Not really.

This is pretty amazing. A guy walks every street in NYC. I bet he is skinny. I also wonder how many cell phones and wallets he found over the last four years? Click here to check it out.

A list of 12 cities that will shake up the art world in the 21st Century. Neither Baltimore nor Memphis is on the lst. Neither is Nashville, that makes me happy. Click here to read the list.

A list of 15 bars to visit before you die. What? No smoky dive bars? Here is the list.

I do not know about the bas in the above list. But I am going to go to Germany for Octoberfest before I die. Holy shit.  Because I want to do whatever the guy in the image below is doing. Here are some more images.

Kim Gordon is the only woman Larry Gagosian cares about for the London exhibition. Kim Gordon is, however, bad ass.

Whoa...these are some beautiful images. Animals turning to stone.

I live a quarter mile from a Donald Judd. That makes me happy.

I am off to see the emerge art fair in DC this weekend. Good times.

Go see some art.
