Kathleen Perniciaro: residual at Material

Material is excited to announce its fifty-first exhibition: Kathleen Perniciaro: residual.

The exhibition will run for one night only on Friday, November 20th, 2009 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM.

Born in St. Louis, Kathleen Perniciaro majored in studio art at Rhodes College. Upon graduation this past May, she showed work at the Clough-Hanson Gallery in the Senior Thesis show, "Melody One." Her first solo show, "[elsewhere]," was a site-specific installation exhibition at Burke’s Books. Recently her work was featured in" Emerging Artists: Best of Local Universities" at Askew Nixon Ferguson Architecture Gallery. She also participated in "KoobÄ—ton," a show of work by the collaborative group, One Hundred Eighty Finger Collective at the Adam Shaw Gallery. She lives in downtown Memphis and is working towards graduate school and hopes to receive her MFA. Her exhibition for Material will be a site specific installation that incorporates drawing, painting, sculpture, as well as video and audio elements.

Material is located at 2553 Broad Avenue. Parking is available on both the north and south sides of Broad Avenue.

Holiday Bazaar at MCA

Don't forget!

Memphis College of Art kicks
off the holidays with the
60th Annual Holiday Bazaar Friday, November 20 from 6 to
9 pm and Saturday, November 21 from 10 am to 3 pm.

This much-anticipated event features thousands of pieces of original artwork for sale in time for the holidays.

Unofficially the oldest bazaar in the city, MCA's market has become a mainstay of the holiday season and offers shoppers one-of-a-kind gifts and artwork made by students, faculty, staff and alumni. This year's bazaar features holiday treasures by some of the College's most beloved faculty members like Dolph Smith, Remy Miller, Bob Riseling and Fred Burton. Sculptures, paintings, pottery, ceramics, glass, jewelry and ornaments are only a few of the items for sale. The 60th Annual Holiday Bazaar promises to be, as always, an extraordinary event.

The Holiday Bazaar is free and open to the public. 901.272.5100.

All proceeds benefit MCA's scholarship fund. Sponsored by Jaco Bryant Printers and Bosco's.
